Louisville web design and software development company Mission Data announced today that two seasoned executives are joining the company. Stuart Gavurin brings his experience from previous roles as a Partner at Cap Gemini Ernst & Young (formerly Ernst &Young) where he led the operations of the North American IT consulting organization and as a Vice President at Unisys where he served as global leader for its IT Outsourcing business. Ann Liu has extensive global IT services development and complex program management experience at Cap Gemini Ernst & Young and Unisys. Gavurin and Liu will be part of the leadership team at Mission Data, which includes Tim McWilliams, Steven Yelton, Carson McDonald and Ann McWilliams.

Mission Data opened its doors about a decade ago in Louisville. The company offers high-end web design and software development services to numerous area companies, including Heaven Hill Distilleries, Greater Louisville Association of Realtors, Brinly- Hardy, Louisville Science Center and the American Red Cross. The company’s success, Tim McWilliams said, has come from its understanding that a strong web presence requires the marriage of outstanding technology and innovative design. Mission Data excels at both, and that’s part of what drew Gavurin and Liu to the team: “There are great technology people and there are great design people but it’s the combination of the two that’s rare.”

He also thinks Mission Data occupies a sweet spot in the market.

“What I was realizing in my previous positions was that the next wave of growth in this economy is from the small- and medium-sized enterprises who are counting on new web-based technologies and services to grow their businesses.“ Gavurin said. “I was eager to join a team that was really at the heart of this new wave of growth. The larger IT services firms aren’t built to deliver to the needs of companies outside of the Fortune 500. That’s where Mission Data came in.”

The company is adding a Washington, D.C.-area office and growing its Louisville base from 15 employees to 30 in the next 18 months. McWilliams said this kind of growth has been part of his plan for years. “I wanted to bring new technology services to Louisville, mine the best talent that is here, and eventually expand to other markets.”

Mission Data has traditionally offered website development and eCommerce services that allowed its customers to build their businesses online. Gavurin plans to expand such offerings to include broader web application hosting and other managed services to allow small- and medium-businesses “to walk away from all the blinky-light stuff, and focus directly on growing businesses.”

McWilliams said that fits the plan perfectly: “One of our greatest pleasures has been working with small companies over the last decade and helping them to grow, and we will continue to do that.”
